Krista O’Brien

Krista is an Arizona native, seeking election for the SRP District Board as an at-large seat 12 candidate. During the day, she enjoys her job as a Program Manager of Sustainability Practices at Arizona State University (ASU). She works in ASU operations focusing on Environmental Data and Strategic Initiatives with university partners.

Outside of sustainability initiatives at ASU, Krista completed the Master Gardener program through University of Arizona’s Maricopa County Cooperative Extension. Previously, Krista served two terms on the board of Trees Matter, one as a Board Member and one as Board Chair. Trees Matter is a nonprofit in Phoenix, Arizona with a mission to inspire and promote an increased tree canopy in the valley.

Krista studied at ASU, and graduated with a BS in Sustainable Materials, Energy and Technology, a BA in Anthropology, a Minor in Urban Planning, a Minor in Economics and a Certificate in International Business. Krista currently lives in Tempe, Arizona with her husband and two rescued dogs. She loves to read, garden, cook and crochet.

Krista is a persuasive leader in the Sustainability Management field, integrating solutions-oriented, socially responsible business practices into everyday operations. She is a dynamic, collaborative strategist engaging internal and external stakeholders in data-driven environmentally responsible methods to meet sustainability goals. She is always interested in the wide variety of opportunities in sustainability here in the Valley of the Sun.
