Colleen Resch-Geretti has been an SRP power and flood irrigation customer since 2000 and is running for SRP Council Division 7 District and Association. She is passionate about clean energy, water conservation, and protecting watershed. She realizes the urgency to act now and the need to create a more sustainable future for all by utilizing clean and readily available energy.

She understands that reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change are critical to protecting humans, wildlife, and ecosystems. She is troubled that a significant percentage of energy comes from fossil fuels while an extraordinarily small percentage of energy comes from the sun. Arizona has over 300 sunny days per year, more than any other state; we need to take advantage of this “free” resource and improve upon the utilization of solar energy.

As an SRP flood irrigation customer, Colleen realizes the importance of protecting watershed, as that is where all water starts. Since 2002, she has been instrumental in managing capital improvements to the aging irrigation system in her neighborhood and working with neighbors to eliminate water waste.

Her community services include serving as a member of the Camelback East Village Planning Committee appointed by the City of Phoenix Mayor. Since 2003, she has worked tirelessly with developers and zoning attorneys to minimize the environmental impact of proposed land developments. Her efforts include reducing urban heat island effects, with a focus on clean energy and sustainability. In addition, she has served as the president of her neighborhood association since 2005.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, she has made Phoenix, Arizona, her home since 1989. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Illinois State University and an Associate in Applied Science in Interior Design. She owned and operated a successful business in Arizona for ten years. She is a proven self-starter, possesses strong business knowledge, and is an effective problem solver using critical thinking and strategic planning.

Causes that are important to Colleen are the environment, science and technology, civil rights and social action, human rights, animal welfare, economic empowerment, education, and mental health.

She is an avid long-distance runner and hiker. She qualified for the Boston Marathon three times, hiked the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim, and hiked Mount Whitney in Lone Pine, CA, the highest mountain in the contiguous United States and the Sierra Nevada, with an elevation of 14,505 feet. She loves the outdoors and the lifestyle that Arizona offers year-round.
