Casey Clowes is running for Salt River Project District Board, At-Large seat 11 to ensure we have healthy, sustainable communities across the Valley. Casey is an attorney, voting rights advocate, and climate champion. She has spent her personal and professional life working to improve the lives of others.
Casey currently works as the Voting Rights Director at Progress Arizona. She collaborates with non-profit organizations, labor unions, and other community members to fight for pro-voter and pro-democracy policies at the state legislature.
She is a graduate of ASU where she earned a BS in Public Service and Public Policy and a JD from Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. Casey was a Law and Sustainability Program Scholar, Sustainability Law Student Research Fellow and Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition Team Lead, and completed the Law, Science, and Technology in Environmental and Sustainability Law program while in law school. She published on western water law and agricultural solutions to drought in the west as well as conducted significant research in tribal water rights, natural resource damages, and a religious right to environmental land uses.
While working at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in the Office of Administrative Litigation, Casey represented the public interest to ensure reliable, safe, secure, and economically efficient energy for consumers at a reasonable cost while working with energy industry officials, state commissions, customers, and utilities. She worked on a variety of rate cases, hydro dam licensing, and tribal water rights issues.
She has experience in both negotiating a wide variety of contracts. Casey negotiated multi-year, multi-million-dollar contracts on behalf of her clients and is ready to use the skills she’s built to make sure rate payers get what they need from SRP.
As a community organizer, Casey works to combat the climate crisis. Casey will work to build a clean energy future where everyone can grow and thrive. Her experience allows her to efficiently and effectively devise solutions to complex policy issues, collaborating with and benefiting individuals from various backgrounds.
She has enjoyed living in her home in the SRP district for over a decade. In her free time, you can find Casey playing with her adorable dog, Panda, rooting for the home team at a Diamondbacks game, or cheering on the Phoenix Mercury.
